This picture has such a special place in my heart. Here at Tioga Pass, which stands at 9,943 feet I beheld such an offering from the High Sierras. A dead tree and right next to it a live tree. I thought how many people just look at this and see a mountain and some trees thus missing the point. With clouds that seemed so close they could be touched, the reaching mountains displayed such strength and beauty. Here majestic power and vulnerability all in one image with a long since dead tree and next to its a humble replacement. The circle of life arranged atop a place where the mountains and the sky meet.
