The beautiful Sierra mountains currently are going through such a trying time. Due to years of drought conditions 66 million trees are dying. In 2013 I was leaving Yosemite at sunset as the sun began to sink into the distant California shore line , hundreds of miles to the west. As I drove my truck out of the park , the stark silhouettes of trees damaged in a much earlier fire , seemed so telling against the orange back drop and dusky solemn hues of purple. It was as though even in the natural loss of fire, the forest was saying ,see how I am clothed in such beauty still. This image I entitled then rightfully Beauty for Ashes and it is in this hope I hold out that the forest will endure as it has for thousands of years.
