Film Photography
This view to me is filled with so much serenity and intrigue that I never tire of beholding it. The forested views and filtered sunlight of summer bring this lightly travelled road into a realm all its own. Yet this is Bernheim at its best and a must see if your wanting to take in a beautiful Kentucky landscape. Have lunch at the gift shop cafe called Isaacs and look around at all the gift shop offers. Then plan on spending the day learning ,seeing, and being filled with all these wonderful 15,000 acres has to offer. You wont be disappointed and you will be rewarded.
I have walked this trail in the snow and the cold of winter. I haved walked it in spring. I have walked it in fall. This summer day it was warm and the light filtered down through the forest in a wonderful way. The calling of film was upon my heart and I just began to revist film again in the form of my old faithful Mamiya 645. This picture was made the old fashioned way with a film camera and a tripod. The film Kodak Ektar 100.
I have never visited Bernheim and came away empty. We always get more from nature than we give. The freshness. The air. The wildlfie and the magic . All these renew us and rekindle the connection we need to keep vibrant. Go and enjoy or better yet become a member . Together we all can make Bernheim a treasure for years to come.
I am a hugr fan of John Muir's words and life. Having found them to be so true in every way. If ever we needed to return to our natural world it is now. To walk in the woods and sit reflecting upon a bench, of which there are many in Bernheim. In todays world it is way to easy to become lost in a cyber storm of high speed data overload. I like what John Muir said, " Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."
